Biography

Sylvaine Strike has established herself as an actress, voice-over artist, theatre director and theatre-maker, having a diverse career in the mediums of theatre, television and film. Receiving her training from the University of Cape Town Drama School, she went on to specialise in physical theatre and movement analysis at the École Jacques Lecoq in Paris.

As a playwright and director, she is best known for her riveting, innovative plays that have captivated audiences both nationally and internationally. As an actress she is equally accomplished in both drama and comedy, and regularly works between stage and screen. She is recognised for her moving and detailed character work, reflecting the truthful strangeness and delightful absurdity of human nature.

Remembered fondly as Frankie Dwyer the schoolgirl from Suburban Bliss (TV), she has risen to play on many stages throughout South Africa, to critical acclaim. Her film career has allowed her to work with directors Michael Mann, Neil Blomkamp, Tom Hooper, Darrell Roodt, and Adrian Shergold, Donovan Marsh and Lukas Ettlin.
