Jazzara Jaslyn is a theatre, film and television actor born and based in Cape Town, South Africa. She was in her first theatre show at age five, after a director scouted her in the 'audience participation part of a children’s show. She knew this was her calling ever since.
She graduated from UCT in 2014 with a BA in Theatre and Performance. A promising theatre career ensued, including a tour of the stage adaption of Fatal Attraction where she played the complex, lead role of Alex Forrest. Even though her roots lie in the theatre, Jazzara has since focused her career on feature film and television. Notable roles on screen include Olympia in Warner Brothers’ A Cinderella Story, Jane Swann in Professionals (alongside Brendan Fraser, dir. Ciaran Donnelly & Bharat Nalluri) and Miranda Hugo in Mnet and Showmax’s Lioness.
She has a deep passion for exploring the human condition which has now manifested in her creating her own work as a writer and director. She has also danced her whole life, from ballet to flamenco to figure-skating, but contemporary dance is still her favourite form of movement.
She believes in keeping the channel open, as stories have so many avenues through which to be expressed.
