Matthew Dylan Roberts is a versatile actor-writer-director with experience in all the disciplines of drama. He studied at both Rita Maas and the Cape Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating with honours. He also graduated with merit in scriptwriting and directing from Regardt van den Bergh’s Film school, and has both ATCL and LTCL diplomas in teaching speech and drama from Trinity College, London. He has appeared in over forty professional productions on the stage and has played leading and supporting roles in over eighty television and film productions, as well as a radio drama for the SABC. Matthew has worked with, amongst others, Oscar-winning directors Clint Eastwood and Bille August, Morgan Freeman, Meg Ryan, Joseph Fiennes, James Brolin, Beau Bridges and William.H.Macy. He directed his first film, ‘Capitalist Pigs’ in 2008. In 2012 Matthew was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in the film Orange Blank Blue. Most recently Matthew was again nominated for Best Actor for Freedom Road at the Los Angeles 168 Film Festival, alongside Stephen Baldwin and Nate Parker. He attended the award ceremony in California.
