Michael's breakout performance was back in 2008 as controversial French UN worker Charles Solenz in Fox's multi-Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated feature 24: Redemption. Over 12 million viewers tuned in for the premiere.

The actor has continually held his own with heavyweights in the industry, including the late Oscar-winner William Hurt in BBC Films' award-winning The Challenger Disaster and Mads Mikkelsen in Universal's western The Salvation. The film premiered at Cannes with a ten-minute standing ovation.

Michael is perhaps best known for playing series regular Richard Guthrie in two seasons of Michael Bay's hit pirate series Black Sails (now streaming on Netflix). After being awarded an extraordinary ability green card in 2015, Michael relocated to Los Angeles and became a permanent US resident. Michael then narrated Nicholas Sparks' (The Notebook) #1 New York Times bestselling audiobook Every Breath.

After winning Best Performance by an Actor at the Boston Sci-fi Film Festival for Last Broken Darkness, he played the lead in the multi-award-winning political thriller The Last Victims, which premiered at PAFF in Los Angeles. He went on to win Best Actor at the South Film and Arts Festival in Chile.

Over the past decade, Michael has recurred on Deep State and Vagrant Queen and played a supporting role in the Netflix Original The Last Days of American Crime opposite Michael Pitt and Edgar Ramirez. He was a series regular on Die Byl (Kyknet) and Ludik (Netflix), recurred opposite David Tennant on Around the World in 80 Days, and won Best Supporting Actor for Stay Safe.

Additional highlights include Triggered (Samuel Goldwyn Films), Bradley Cooper's FDR and Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese's Theodore Roosevelt.  Michael can currently be seen recurring as FBI profiler Robert Ressler in Catch me a Killer (Showmax/BritBox).

Upcoming releases include playing a lead in Masinga: The Calling (which premiered at PAFF in Los Angeles); the remake of 80’s cult classic Street Trash (screening at Cannes Frontièrs 2024); Spiral (UK) and House of David for Fox.

He is attached as a lead in Broken Brothers, This is How the World Ends, the A.S.T. film franchise, Bloody Proposal and a supporting role in Huntington (w/t) for A24 / StudioCanal.  Michael is also a screenwriter and exec producer on the Netflix Original feature Collision.
