MLA CALL FOR CAST 2021 - TOP 10
| Damien Wantenaar is a young actor from Johannesburg with a keen interest in local and international work. Training in theatre at the University of the Witwatersrand led to him receiving the Richard Haines Award for exceptional ability and commitment to his craft.
After training, he was immediately chosen as one of the Top 5 young actors in South Africa to join the Kwasha! Theatre Company, in association with the Market Theatre. His tenure here didn’t last long; however, his talents were snapped up by Apple Studios to perform under multiple Emmy Award-winning director Alik Sakharov (‘Ozark’, ‘Game of Thrones’) for Invasion. After that, Damien appeared as the main antagonist for season 4 of the hit Netflix original Blood & Water, a role that earned him acclaim from the show's fans. That season ended up in the Top 10 most popular Netflix series in 27 countries (March 4 – 10, 2024). Most recently, Damien was seen in A24 feature film, How to Make a Killing, alongside Glen Powell and Ed Harris. Damien is a passionate and hardworking artist, eager to grow and experience new challenges. |
