In the early 2000s, Garth studied 'Film and Acting For Camera' in Cape Town under the guidance of some of SA's finest mentors: Gerard Rudolf, Aletta Bezuidenhout, and Anthony Perris.
His love of film led him to mainly perform in film and TV series as a character actor in comedic and dramatic roles. Early in his career, he did a highly successful run of the theatre production Train Tour Man alongside Shirley Kirchmann to rave reviews and an extended run on the festival circuit.
Film has always been the drawcard, and it has since appeared in over 50 productions alongside some of South Africa's finest and big names from across the pond.
His career highlights include acting opposite Laurence Fishbourne in Mandela, Idris Elba in Long Walk to Freedom, and Sam Elliott in Avenger, one of his all-time favourite actors.
Other career highlights would be playing Dan Fisher in the uplifting local biopic based on actual events, Beyond The River, Master Sergeant Scott Ford in the docu-series No Man Left Behind and the acclaimed local western, Five Fingers for Marseilles, Ajax in the BBC epic Troy: Fall of a City and Raised By Wolves, by Ridley Scott as Den.
He now resides in Cape Town after a 15-year stint in Johannesburg.
