At the core of Kathryn is a storyteller. She desires to tell stories that change and impact the world around her. Stories intertwine us. As an artist, Kathryn loves to be able to listen, voice, motivate and write them.
She is currently on MNET's Summertide, playing a support role as Ms Joubert, a hard-nosed legal representative. Kathryn was also on set for a year on the crew as a childminder and tutor for Evangelina, her daughter, who plays one of the lead roles.
Kathryn has been passionate about acting since she was 14 when she won an inter-house monologue competition. She excelled at theatre during her high school years while a pupil at Durban Girls' College, Kwa-Zulu Natal. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts and postgraduate degree in Teaching at Stellenbosch University. She studied Drama Theory and played Myrtle in Paul Slabolepszy's Boo to the Moon in the inter-residential play. Her love of Cape Town and her heart for South Africa brought her back home after living and working in London for almost nine years (2000-2008).
Kathryn has extensive experience in both local and international commercial work. Highlights include Vodacom and OUTsurance (SA) and Pruhealth (UK), where she was the support lead for an adorable four-legged co-star named Bingo.
Kathryn is passionate about empowering women to know their value and worth. She has spoken at schools and other events, sharing her own story in the hope of encouraging and motivating change. She has been involved with S-Cape, a safe house for women who have been rescued from sex trafficking and cares deeply about the fight against this atrocity.
Her personal life experiences and empathy enable her to draw from deep emotional places. She is versatile in both dramatic and comedic work.
Kathryn lives in Fish Hoek with her husband, two daughters, a dog and three cats. She loves running and being in the ocean. She believes that the best is yet to come.
