Born and raised in Makhanda, Likhona Mpepo is a young actor based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She studied dramatic arts throughout high school at Victoria Girls’ High School, then furthered her education at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance degree, majoring in Performance Practice and Cultural Policy and Management.
During her time at university, she has been involved in notable productions such as Simon (2024), an award-winning production at the Directing IV Festival, Umkhangeli Ongenagama (2023), Izilo (2023), Ungathi Amen (2023) and many more which have expanded her understanding of the essence and responsibilities of a storyteller.
In addition to theatrical productions, she was part of the film All the Colors in One (2024), which is set to be screened later in 2025 and the Pussy Squad (2022) performance procession at Infecting the City (2023) Cape Town, a project aimed at charismatically challenging pre-conceived ideas of a woman’s body, specifically demystifying the vagina.
As an actor, she aspires to inspire the next generation through storytelling that raises awareness and serves as a medium that relates people to each other. She aspires to challenge herself to grow in her craft, contributing to the cultural and creative industry.
