MLA CALL FOR CAST 'TOP 14'- 2023
Lavinia Kapewasha is an actress, director, producer, screenplay writer, and multidisciplinary artist. She is the co-founder of Dark Crown Productions, alongside, Jenny Kandenge.
Gracing the stage as well as the screen, she works in tandem in order to not only give herself opportunities but to create opportunities for black female artists as well. Her most recent directing credit is Grootman (2022), Hers, Yours, Mine (2022) written and directed by Kapewasha, Iitandu (2019), a post-apocalyptic science-fiction short film where Lavinia is the titular character, also written and directed by Lavinia Kapewasha, and the web series, Untitled (2019), which follows the lives of 7 Namibian artists for which she is the co-writer alongside Jenny Kandenge and the series’ director.
The short film Iitandu was showcased at various festivals, including Pan African Film Festival 2020 where Kapewasha, was nominated for Best Newcomer Actress for her role in Ominous at the 2017 Theatre and Film Awards.
